There are some legacy image/textboards that have been around forever, but there has also always been a lot of boards that come and go. Someone starts one up, shares it on other boards to attract users, those users find it and post, it may shut down, the cycle repeats. Thus they end up feeling pointless to use if you know it's just the same handful of people. But still, I've been around these boards for so long that I put up with it. I guess spam is kinda annoying, but that's not as bad as it used to be now that boards aren't really popular anymore, so people feel less inclined to run spam bots. Of course they still exist, but it's not as bad as it used to be. And of course...what annoys me is when they die! I have always kept a huge list of bookmarks over the years. Sometimes I'll click random bookmarks to pay a visit and realize the site has died.
