Imageboard users are dumber, the same way people who read comic books are held to a lesser standard than people who read
literature for good reason. Textboards usually value the mind and discussion more than what fancy image somebody posted.
Also the only real imageboard of those 3 is 4cunt. 2channel and world2ch are textboards except for this futaba board.

Bots, but that's more of a general internet problem now.

Well, since I prefer to use the small ones instead of 4chan (I used to like it, but it's different now...plus they don't allow most VPNs) the biggest issue is that they all have more or less the same userbase. There are some legacy image/textboards that have been around forever, but there has also always been a lot of boards that come and go. Someone starts one up, shares it on other boards to attract users, those users find it and post, it may shut down, the cycle repeats. Thus they end up feeling pointless to use if you know it's just the same handful of people.

But still, I've been around these boards for so long that I put up with it.

I guess spam is kinda annoying, but that's not as bad as it used to be now that boards aren't really popular anymore, so people feel less inclined to run spam bots. Of course they still exist, but it's not as bad as it used to be.

And of course...what annoys me is when they die! I have always kept a huge list of bookmarks over the years. Sometimes I'll click random bookmarks to pay a visit and realize the site has died.

My problem with imageboards is that they are either 4chan users or are linked to 4chan.
For textboards, they try to be like 2channel but in English. So not really original.
And when a different board is created, no one is really interested. So what's the point of trying to do something else?
I would like there to be a textboard as big as 4chan, with original content, etc. But it looks like it's going to be difficult to make one.

I like a lot of cool image centered stuff, which can be distinct from good discussion and oftentimes these end up being different spaces, but it's not necessarily the case I have found. I haven't sought out the kind of social experience I once coveted from imageboards in a long time
